MADRID, 16 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, has confirmed this Thursday another ten fatalities due to the explosions that on Tuesday night shook five mines located in the town of Sutatausa, in central Colombia, bringing the death toll to 21.

“Unfortunately there is no longer anyone alive, our hearts are broken,” lamented García, who has detailed that there is still the last lifeless body to be rescued from the ten deaths that have been confirmed this Thursday.

The first explosion occurred at 8:15 p.m. local time this Tuesday at the El Hoyo coal mine, which communicates with four others, causing a chain reaction and several more explosions, trapping 23 people, two of whom they were able to be rescued, while seven others got out by their own means.

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has confirmed that he has received the news from Governor García and regretted that despite “all the efforts” of the rescue teams, nothing could be done for the lives of these workers. “All my solidarity to their families,” he expressed.
