by time news

The singer and creator Itzik Kalla He started his musical career as a child prodigy, and today he is considered one of the most prominent singers in the Mediterranean genre. Behind him, over 30 albums, dozens of hits, and a particularly loyal audience that has followed him for many years. This year the singer will celebrate his 70th birthday, and we are lucky that he decided to take part in the project, and arrange an hour of particularly exciting Hebrew music for us.

If you ask Kala where it all started, he will say that at the age of 10, the bard Rahamim Amar discovered him, and was able to recognize the musical potential in him. Amr taught him to read sheet music, invested in learning to play mandolin, guitar, oud, and even bouzouki. Kala developed his skills under Amr’s wings, became his mentor, and already at the age of 11 he took part in his first recording, and was a choir singer. Later he moved to events, and the rest is history.

During his extensive career, it was easy to choose to collaborate with the best creators in Israel. His albums were decorated with songs by Uzi Hitman, Ehud Manor, Avihu Medina, Danny Shoshan, and others. Among his prominent songs you can find ‘Mami Mami’, ‘Abba Nesham’, I am the slave’, ‘Rafani’, ‘Why not’, ‘A beautiful woman’, ‘I call your name’, ‘What happened to you’, ‘The passing of the years’ , and the immortal ‘Seeking the Way’.

At the beginning of the year, Kella returned to perform after dealing with cancer. Today we are in the recovery process, and very happy to return and receive the warm hug from his loyal audience. He returned to the front of the stage, continues to perform throughout the country, and move everyone with his unforgettable music.
