A gang of people who stole doors, windows and posts from unoccupied houses in Karainagar area of Jaffna have been captured by the villagers and handed over to the village police.
A gang of five people from Suzhipuram area entered unoccupied houses in Kovalam area of Karainagar and broke the doors and windows of the house and tried to steal them.
The villagers who witnessed it got together and caught the theft gang and then handed it over to the village police. Their Batta type vehicle has also been recovered and handed over to the police.
After that, all five were arrested and detained at the police station and further investigations are being carried out.
As many people from Karainagar area, Jaffna..city area, Colombo and diaspora have settled and their native houses in Karainagar are unoccupied, thieves are showing their hand in those houses.
