The wake of state deputy Amarildo Cruz (PT) will be open to the public at the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul, but the burial will be far away, in Presidente Epitácio (SP), on the border with Bataguassu (MS), where he was born, the 349 kilometers from Campo Grande.
Despite the death being confirmed in the early afternoon of this Friday (17), the ceremonial of the Assembly guarantees that everything will be ready for the ceremony to start at 8:30 pm, in the lobby of Nelly Martins. Tomorrow, at 6 am, the body is expected to leave for São Paulo.
The deputy’s two sisters live in Curitiba, his brother in Campo Grande, but Amarildo’s mother still lives in Presidente Epitácio. The deputy always had a strong connection with his hometown, despite building his career as an income tax in Mato Grosso do Sul. His 50th birthday was even celebrated there.
The parade to the farewell on the other side of the border will be accompanied by a Legislative commission, formed by deputies Junior Mochi (MDB), Pedro Kemp (PT) and Pedrossian Neto (PSD).
The House of Laws declared three days of official mourning. The flags, at the entrance of ALEMS, are at half mast. Amarildo was in his 5th term. The first one started in 2006. In 2022, he was re-elected, with 17,249 votes.
