Usually we fear an escalation during the month of Ramadan – this year we are already deep into the escalation, at a very bad starting point. This evening (Friday) there was an attempted stabbing attack in the Beit El area. The terrorist, 23-year-old Yazen Omar Jamil Khasib, was killed – there were no Israeli casualties.

The security system currently has dozens of alerts for attacks. It is much easier for terrorists to carry out an attack in the territories, than inside the green line, because they do not have to cross any fence. There is a certain list of terrorist operatives regarding which the security officials have decided: by the beginning of Ramadan they should either be behind bars – or dead.
Alongside the characteristic of the current escalation, which is shooting attacks, there is a certain trend that the security forces are beginning to recognize and worry about – and this is the story of the chargers. Last week chargers were used in two places: the bus in Beitar Illit, and a place called Dorot Illit.
