Formal friendship of Lithuania: officially – Sakartvel, but in practice – still Georgia

Five years ago, the name of the Georgian embassy in Lithuania was solemnly changed in Vilnius, because in the spring of 2018, the State Lithuanian Language Commission decided that Georgia can also be called Sakartveli. Two years later, in the 2020s, the name Sakartvel went from being allowed to becoming official. This means that it is this name that must be used in all official writings. It has, but it doesn’t.
