Amazon ends sales of Kindle magazines

by time news

Amazon has stopped selling Kindle Newsstand digital magazine and newspaper subscriptions and will end deliveries in September. The company will also stop intermediating the sale of printed periodicals. The announcement was made through the official website of the company.

In the statement, Amazon set some deadlines on specific services. Among them are:

  • 05/06: Last day to manage print magazine subscriptions across the enterprise. After that day, subscription management will be done directly with the editor or person responsible for the publication.
  • 9/4: For Kindle Newsstand subscribers, this will be the last day to receive your issues. After that date, it will not be possible to renew through Amazon – but the previous content will remain saved and can be accessed normally.

For customers who have subscriptions with coverage after the end date of the service, the company will make a proportional refund for the remaining months. Annual subscriptions will not renew.

After an evaluation of our magazine and newspaper subscriptions and single issue sales, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue these services. We do not take these decisions lightly and are ending these offerings in a phased manner over several months. We will continue to support customers, sellers, and publishers during this time.

Julia Lee, spokeswoman for Amazon, in an interview with The Verge.

All versions and services delivered by the deadline can be accessed normally after the last date. To continue with subscriptions and deliveries, it will be necessary to contact those responsible for the magazines directly. Amazon also pointed out that it will soon provide a specific mechanism for this type of request.
