KYC Fraud; Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli loses Rs 1.14 lakh; Recovered by police

Mumbai: Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been booked for online fraud. He lost Rs 1.14 lakh in the scam but got his money back with their help in a complaint lodged with the police. The money was allegedly swindled from Kambli by a bank executive who falsely claimed that the card would be deactivated if the KYC information was not updated.

Kambli also provided his KYC information to the person concerned, who asked for the information to be updated. The caller told Kambli to download the Eni Desk application and then used Kambli’s account to withdraw Rs 1.14 lakh on various occasions.

Kambli, who was finally suspicious of the caller, contacted the bank officials and came to know about the scam. The actor then lodged a complaint with the Bandra police. The Bandra police cyber team then recovered the money from Kambli.

Rohit said the setback was that the team could not recover from the initial setbacks in the Champions Trophy, ICC World Cup and T20 World Cup. Rohit also said that he thinks the problem may be due to the lack of direct experience of the Indian players in the early setbacks.
