MuCarnatic musician Bombay Jayashree has been awarded the 2023 Sangeetha Kalanidhi Award by the Sikh Academy. Vasantalakshmi Narasimhachari was awarded the Nrythya Kalanidhi award. Music Academy Executive Committee decided the awards unanimously, Academy President N. Murali said.

N. Murali responded to the national media that Bombay Jayashree was informed about the award. She has also sung many film songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Telugu languages. Apart from being a singer, Bombay Jayashree, who has also made a mark in the fields of music director and teacher, also imparts music to ordinary children.

Jayashree, who received Sangeetha Chudamani (2005), Kalaimamani (2007), Sangeetha Kalasarathy (2007) and Honorary Doctorate (2009), was honored with Padma Shri in 2021 by the country.

Carnatic musician Palkulangara Ambika Devi and mridanga virtuoso K.S. Kalidas and Sangeet Kala Acharya Award. Bombay Jayashree will attend the Music Academy’s 97th annual conference from December 15 to January 1. Sangeet Kalanidhi Award will be handed over to them on the first day. Vasantalakshmi Narasimhachari will receive the Nrityakalanidhi Award at the opening ceremony of the 17th annual dance festival to be held on January 3.
