Consul Assaf Zamir summoned to a hearing following remarks against the reform

The Consul General in New York, Asaf Zamir, was called for a hearing by Foreign Ministry officials on Sunday. This was due to his remarks against legal reform made to American Jewish donors last Thursday. The Foreign Ministry summoned Zamir to Jerusalem for a clarification conversation. They are also exploring the possibility of terminating the engagement with special envoy Noa Tashvi, appointed by former foreign minister Yair Lapid, for biased criticism of the legal reform. Tashvi criticized the reform in an interview with Bill Maher and in a column, without acknowledging that it was a result of citizens’ votes.

Foreign Ministry officials said today (Sunday) that the Consul General in New York, Asaf Zamir, was summoned for a hearing following his statement against the legal reform.

Following subversive statements he made to hundreds of American Jewish donors last Thursday, the Foreign Ministry decided to summon Zamir for a clarification conversation, to be held at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also examining the possibility of terminating the engagement with the special envoy for the fight against anti-Semitism, Noa Tashvi, who was appointed by Yair Lapid when he was foreign minister.

As I recall, Tashvi expressed biased criticism of the legal reform in an interview with Bill Maher as well as in a column she published. This, without mentioning that the reform is a direct result of the citizens’ votes at the ballot box.
