The Municipality of Montevideo (IM) rescheduled the start of the “Here we are” festival for 6:00 p.m. due to the rain forecasts given by the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (INUMET) and the copious rains in recent hours.

During Sunday morning, heavy rainfall fell in Montevideo, and it is expected to continue for the next few hours.

On Instagram, the IMM reported that, in case of rain, the festival is not canceled but rescheduled for Monday.

Alert for heavy rains in Montevideo and other areas of Uruguay

The INUMET has yellow and orange alerts for this Sunday, whose states will be updated in the afternoon of the day. The agency’s alert explains that there is an “atmospheric disturbance associated with a humid and unstable air mass affecting the country, generating storms, some occasionally strong.”

“It should be noted that in stormy areas, intense rains may be recorded in short periods, occasional hail fall, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind. The situation will continue to be monitored and eventual changes will be reported,” the alert added.
