In Paris the basketball derby, in Charlotte Bonnet the French record… It was a sports weekend in Île-de-France

by time news

Like every end of the weekend, “Le Parisien” invites you to come back to the main highlights and club results – excluding football – in Île-de-France.

The performance of the weekend: Charlotte Bonnet breaks the French record at Saint-Germain

SWIMMING. The first edition of the Giant Open which took place this weekend in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (78) was a great success. Among the highlights, Charlotte Bonnet signed a fine performance in the 100m breaststroke, beating the French record. The Niçoise erases tablets Sophie de Ronchi whose record dates from 2011 (1′7′’76 against 1′7′’97). At 28, Charlotte Bonnet proves that she made the right choice by switching from front crawl to breaststroke. For a new competition, it’s always a nice spotlight to have a swimmer break a record. Charlotte Bonnet is not the only Frenchwoman to have distinguished herself. Thus, Maxime Grousset (CS Clichy 92) did the job in the 100m NL, as did Marie Wattel (CN Marseille) in the 50m NL.

The derby of the weekend: Paris sinks Nanterre

BASKET. In the clash of worlds, it was the ambitious Paris that overcame the tough Nanterre. A victory that allows the Parisians to still believe in qualifying for the playoffs thanks to their 12th place, just two victories from the Grail. For Nanterre, this defeat hurts. Falling to 15th place, the Hauts-de-Seine players are relegated ten days from the end. In the only fourth derby in history, the Parisians equalized with two wins everywhere. A success that took shape during the second and third quarters. Despite a burst from the Nanterriens in the final quarter, victory no longer escaped the teammates of Chris Goulding, author of 15 points with Aamir Simms. In Nanterre, Bastien Pinault’s 14 points were not enough.

The coup de force: Ivry gives himself some air

HANDBALL. In his match of fear, the team of Didier Dinart did not tremble. By winning with force and vigor (41-36) against Istres, a direct competitor in the race for maintenance, Ivry carried out a good operation. With three points ahead of the relegation zone, the Ile-de-France residents offer themselves a small joker ten days before the end. In an overheated atmosphere, the Ivryans led from start to finish. Already a winner at Sélestat (32-30), Ivry is aiming for the pass of three against Aix next Friday.

The card of the weekend: PSG pulverizes Toulouse

HANDBALL. The revenge was terrible. After their third defeat in the Starligue in Chambéry (34-33), the PSG players have raised the bar beautifully. Against Toulouse, at the Pierre-de-Coubertin gymnasium, the Parisians largely won against Toulouse with a score of 38-26. A correction for the current fifth in the championship. For PSG, a small hope of retaining its title still exists after this victory. Two points behind Montpellier, Nikola Karabatic’s teammates will try to follow up next Friday against Istres.

The flop of the weekend: zero points for Ile-de-France residents in Proligue

HANDBALL. Obviously, the Massy-Tremblay-Pontault trio did not have home advantage and all had to travel on this 21st day. But considering a zero point was not an option. Yet it has become a reality. In a match with almost no stakes, the Massicois lost to Besançon (36-34). A defeat that almost definitively seals the fate of the Essonnians, who will probably not make the playoffs. For Pontault and Tremblay, who are currently in the position of play-offs, they were faced with direct competitors. In Saran, facing the former resident of Starligue, Pontault fell heavily (37-30). Suddenly, the players of Guillaume Saurina fall to 5th place, doubled by their opponent of the day. Worse, Tremblay, who held the precious second place, which qualifies for the final at 4, was surprised in Caen. The players of 93 let go of their precious sesame and are now fourth.

The event of the weekend: Victor Bettendorf wins at Saut Hermès

EQUITATION. The Luxembourger Victor Bettendorf, in the saddle on Mr Tac won for the first time the 5-star Grand Prix of the 13th edition of the Saut Hermès this Sunday at the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris. Victor Bettendorf is ahead of Dutchman Harrie Smolders (Monaco) and Belgian Wilm Wermeir (Iq van het Steentje). The first Frenchman is Roger-Yves Bost (Cassius Clay VDV Z), sixth, while the double winner of the event Simon Delestre (Cayman Jolly Jumper) takes eighth place.
