Cellcom and Hot offer internet at a speed of 5 gigabit

by time news

Hot and Cellcom, the partners in the fiber optic project IBC Unlimited, announced – separately of course – the launch of Internet packages at a record speed of 5 gigabit per second. The launch comes thanks to the upgrade of the network infrastructure to XGS-PON technology, a move that was already announced last October. Theoretically, the technology also allows connections at speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second, but in the first stage, as mentioned, packages will be launched at speeds of up to 5 gigabits.

Cellcom is already opening pre-registration for the relevant packages, which the company calls Ultra Fast Fiber. A package with a download speed of 5 gigabit per second and an upload of 1 gigabit will be marketed at a price of NIS 199 per month, when customers will receive an adapter for this speed at no additional charge. Installations will be possible from April 2.

Bhut, on the other hand, which already announced the doubling of surfing speed back in January, claims exclusivity on end equipment that supports the technology, including routers and range extenders. Both companies emphasize that the IBC partnership continues to expand the deployment of its infrastructure in Israel, with the target now being about 2 million households throughout the country.

CEO of HOT, Tal Garnot Goldstein: “HOT is proud to lead the fiber revolution and provide the most advanced and fastest infrastructure in the world and the best internet experience to hundreds of thousands of homes and other businesses across the country. Demands for advanced connection and data consumption in Israel are at an all-time high, and the decision we made today, to expand the deployment to two million households and upgrade the infrastructure so that it can provide the high speed in Israel – will meet these demands.”

Daniel Sapir, CEO of Cellcom: “Cellcom is proud to lead the fiber revolution with the launch of the highest surfing speeds in the communications market in Israel. We will continue to work in order to bring the most innovative and advanced solutions that will allow our customers to enjoy fast and powerful surfing all over the country.”
