Vijay Sethupathi starrer Me and Rowdy was a huge hit. The film was a turning point for heroine Nayanthara, hero Vijay Sethupathi and director Vignesh Sivan. The film was well received by the youth.
The film was produced by actor Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films. It was copyrighted by Leica Productions. The film was well received in those days. Vignesh Sivan, who decided to direct the film in 2013, first spoke to Anirudh to cast him. But due to some circumstances Anirudh withdrew from the film.
After that Vijay Sethupathi has been signed to play the lead. Ashok Selvan has said that Vijay Sethupathi had asked Vignesh Sivan and Nayanthara to play the lead roles in the film and that it was Rowdy who could not act in the film due to some unavoidable circumstances.
In an interview given by Ashok Selvan, who has acted in the film ‘O My God’, he said with regret that Rowdy and I had missed the film opportunity.
