The International Mediation held, this Monday, March 13, 2023, a virtual meeting under the chairmanship of Ambassador Boudjema Delmi, Chairman of the Monitoring Committee of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation resulting from the Algiers Process (CSA). At the end of the press release which sanctioned this meeting, it appears that the International Mediation expressed the wish to be received, in good time, by the President of the Transition, Colonel Assimi GOÏtA to, she said, report to him these consultations and seek their views on the way forward.

The members of the Agreement Monitoring Committee held a virtual meeting, this Monday, March 13, 2023, devoted to the issue of the implementation of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation resulting from the Algiers Process, which is experiencing a blow. suspended since December 2022 following the decision of the Coordination of Movements of Azawad (CMA) to suspend its participation in the bodies for the implementation of the Agreement.
Last Monday, the participants carried out an in-depth analysis of the situation, as well as of the initiatives taken since December 2022 to help the resumption of the process of implementation of the Agreement, in particular the discussions held separately with the parties Malians both in Bamako and Kidal, in Mali, and in Algiers, in Algeria. They welcomed the role of the leader of the Mediation and the personal involvement of President Abdelmajid Tebboune.
“The International Mediation has taken note of the concerns expressed by the parties during these consultations,” the statement said.
At the same time, the statement continued, she noted their proclaimed attachment to the Peace Agreement, and underlined that it constitutes the most viable framework for restoring lasting peace and security in northern Mali and contributing significantly to the stabilization of the region as a whole.
“In this context, the International Mediation will continue its efforts with the signatory parties in the days to come. It intends to submit to them concrete proposals with a view to relaunching and accelerating the implementation process, in particular through the holding, as soon as possible, of a high-level meeting of the CFS which would agree on priority actions. and concrete measures likely to restore trust between the parties and meet the needs of the populations on the ground,” the statement said.
Before adding: “The International Mediation reiterates its firm conviction that the persistence of the current impasse carries serious dangers and that no effort should be spared to overcome this impasse as soon as possible”.
Thus, it appears that given the importance of the consultations that took place in Bamako, Kidal and Algiers, the International Mediation expressed the wish to be received, in due course, by the President of the Transition, to report back to him on these consultations and seek his views on the way forward.
“The International Mediation once again urges the signatory parties to refrain from any act or statement likely to call into question the achievements recorded in the implementation of the Agreement and to hinder the efforts underway to relaunch the dynamics of peace,” the statement read.
In addition, the International Mediation asks MINUSMA, which chairs the Technical Security Commission (CTS), to convene, as soon as possible, a meeting of the CTS to take stock of the situation on the ground and facilitate the operationalization of the working group mandated to review the security arrangements, the establishment of which had been agreed upon during the meeting of the 54th ordinary session of the CTS on October 4, 2022.
