In addition to the necessary ingredients, preparing the perfect matcha latte also requires a number of traditional Japanese tools. For example, you need a bamboo brush (chasen), a bamboo spoon (chashaku) and a matcha bowl (chawan). In addition, a milk frother, a kitchen thermometer and a sieve also come in handy.

60 ml water
150 ml of milk

Preparation

Put the milk in a milk frother. Sift 2 bamboo spoons – or 1 tsp – matcha powder and put it in a bowl. For the perfect matcha latte, it is important that the water you use has a temperature of 80°C. You need 60 ml of this. Add the water to the matcha and beat the mixture with the bamboo brush for 15 to 20 seconds. Do this in a quick w-motion, until you get a nice foam layer. Pour the matcha mixture into a cup and add the frothed milk. If you like sweeter drinks, you can also add some honey, maple or agave syrup.
