After lengthy negotiations, a collective agreement was signed yesterday (Monday) for approximately 300 female and male employees of the Veterinary Inspection Corporation, which regulates salary promotions, seniority increases and welfare issues. The salary advances will be paid retroactively for the period in which the salary advances and the accompanying conditions were not given.

The significance of the agreement is that it regulates the conditions of veteran employees who transferred to the corporation from the Council for the Poultry Industry and local authorities. Some employees will immediately receive a salary increase of about 10%.

The negotiations were led by the chairman of the Histadrut Ma’of, attorney Gil Bar-Tal, the head of the division, Idan Or, and the chairman of the workers’ committee at the corporation, Dr. Ortel Afallo, alongside the members of the committee, Broria Motei, Dr. Orna Shilat, and Eli Elias. On the part of the corporation’s management, the CEO Dr. Taniv Rufa took part in the negotiations, as well as Omer Hazan from the department in charge of salaries at the Treasury.

“Together in cooperation we were able to reach an agreement” said the chairman of the Histadrut Ma’af Gil Bar Tal. who thanked Mr. Idan Or for his patience and creativity in the negotiations. “We look forward to a good relationship that will serve the public, the employees and the corporation.”

The Veterinary Inspection Corporation began work in March 2020 as part of a general reform of the Food Law carried out by the Ministry of Health, the purpose of which was to streamline the veterinary inspection process for raw and processed meat. The corporation serves as an executive arm of the regulators in the field of veterinary supervision of animal food in the actual supervision and collection of fees for these services.
