Venezuela: Water, one of the most valuable services for the communities we serve

by time news

World Water Day is an opportunity to remember that the difficulties in accessing this resource exacerbate, in multiple ways, the living conditions of those who live in areas affected by armed violence. On an individual and family scale, it affects health, food, the way in which economic income is generated (since many use water to work), and on a general scale, in detention, forensic and health centers, it affects people who are detained, injured, sick and deceased, as well as the personnel who work there.

These are some examples of the 35 structures that we have rehabilitated and improved in areas of Caracas and the states of Aragua, Miranda, Táchira, Apure, Zulia and Bolívar, throughout 2022, benefiting approximately 38,000 people.

Our work, in the area of water and sanitation, not only includes the improvement of the water supply and storage systems, but also the support to local technicians to develop their capacities to operate and maintain the rehabilitated systems, with a conscious perspective with the planet and the good use of natural resources. In 2023, our efforts will focus on strengthening the resilience of critical service systems, such as water and electricity, as well as communities, ensuring that our interventions have a sustainable humanitarian impact, also responding to the long-term needs of communities. affected populations.
