In good and in bad times …
A metre-long wedding train, an 18-carat gold ring and a beaming bride – walking through the prison gate! If that isn’t real ghetto romance.
Rapper 18 Karat (37, civil Ivo V.) and his fiancee Maya (29) said YES. But in contrast to most bridal couples, the marriage promise did not take place in front of the church altar or in the registry office as standard.
Because the gold mask rapper is serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking. As befits a real gangster rapper, they got married behind bars! In which city should not be written for security reasons.
Ivo V., who became known as the rapper with the gold mask, received a sensitive prison sentence in December 2022 – six years and three months for drug smuggling from Amsterdam! He had shown himself to be insightful in the process and promised to improve.
He told the judge at the time: “On May 1, 2021, I met my fiancee Maya. Your son is a big part of me. For the first time in my life I experienced true love. Our relationship is great, the three of us really are a strong team.”
At the end of his speech, which his lawyer Detlev Binder (56, Bielefeld) read, he said: “After this procedure, I want to do everything differently! I want to marry my fiancee and be there for my family. This is my biggest wish.”
And the musician has finally fulfilled this wish.
Maya had posted messages on Tuesday suggesting the big day was just around the corner. She got up at 6 a.m. to dress up for her Ivo (“The Love of My Life”).
In a MEGA wedding dress with a long train and a striking tiara, the rapper’s fiancé went to the JVA on Wednesday morning.
Of course, there will be no classic wedding celebration followed by a honeymoon for the gangster couple. Because according to BILD information, there are strict rules that the bridal couple must adhere to.
“No one is allowed to come, except for my mother and my mother-in-law,” the bride told BILD.
And even romantic wedding pictures are denied to the rapper and his gangster bride for the time being. There are only later after the examination by the JVA officials, who took pictures themselves. But even this does not diminish the happiness of the bridal couple.
Maya to BILD: “We’ve experienced so much, we’ve mastered so much together and we’ve never given up. We’ve been a team since day one.”
After almost four hours, the wedding magic à la “Bonnie & Clyde” was finally over.
And how did the wedding ceremony go behind the prison walls? Maya: “It was like in the registry office! The social worker had brought flowers and cake, drinks and coffee were ready. Of course there was no champagne. Ivo was wearing a sexy black and gold suit that I had bought. He was very happy and he was very happy to see me.”
And the wedding night? The gangster bride only says so much: “A long-term visit is planned for the middle of next month …”
