“very severely disrupted” traffic on the SNCF side, 30% of flights canceled at Paris-Orly

On the occasion of the ninth day of interprofessional mobilization against the pension reform, traffic will be “very strongly disturbed” in trains. The SNCF announced Wednesday March 22 to be able to run only half of its TGV Inoui and Ouigo and a third of its TER this Thursday. No Intercités train will run, with the exception of two round trips Paris-Clermont-Ferrand and Paris-Brive.

In the Paris region, traffic will also be affected with between 20% and 50% of trains maintained, depending on the RER lines. The most affected line is that of the RER E with only one train in five in circulation. On the RER C, as on lines H, J, L, N, P and U of the Transilien, traffic will be reduced to a third. Trains on the RER D and on the R line will only run for 40% of the usual traffic. Finally, half of the trains will run on line K as well as on lines A and B, with traffic interrupted at 11 p.m. for the latter. Traffic should stay ” disturbed “ in Ile-de-France on Friday, said the SNCF.

Transport in the capital in reduced service

The RATP also warned that almost all of the Paris metro lines would be affected by the strike movement. Only the automated lines (1 and 14), and the 4, partially automated, will operate almost normally. On the others, the trains will run at variable times during the day, at the rate of one in two or three.

Line 3bis will remain closed all day, while line 8 will only be open between Reuilly-Diderot and Créteil and also between Balard and Concorde, with a frequency of one in four trains between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., then 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Lines 2, 5, 10, 11 and 12 will also only be open for a few hours in the morning and late afternoon, and lines 3, 6 and 13 will close earlier in the evening.

A number of stations will be closed, such as Alésia, Barbès-Rochechouart, Bastille, Hôtel-de-ville, Opéra, République and Strasbourg-Saint-Denis. The Auber station will also remain closed.

On the other hand, the day will be less disturbed on the surface, with 80% of buses in circulation and almost normal traffic on the tram side, lines T3a and T3b should be the most affected with three out of four passages, according to the RATP.

30% of flights canceled at Paris-Orly

On the air side, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) is asking companies to cancel 30% of their flights Thursday at Paris-Orly and 20% at other airports due to the controllers’ strike. “From Wednesday March 22, 2023 in the evening until Friday March 24, 2023 at 6 a.m., air traffic will be disrupted departing from and arriving at Paris-Orly, Marseille-Provence, Toulouse and Lyon airports”specifies the DGAC. “Cancellations and delays are to be expected. »

The Marseille-Provence, Toulouse-Blagnac and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry platforms are affected by the cancellation of one in five flights on departure or arrival.

Air France announced for its part that it planned for Thursday to ensure “95% of its flight schedule, including all of its long-haul flights and its flights to and from Paris-Charles de Gaulle”, the first French airport. Nevertheless, “last minute delays and cancellations cannot be ruled out”, warned the company. For its part, Transavia, « low cost » of the Air France-KLM group, has listed on its website thirty canceled flights.
