Ford reveals photos of the new electric Explorer: meet – News

by time news

Ford today released official photos of the Explorer EV, which has nothing to do with the Explorer offered in some countries like the US. This vehicle uses Volkswagen’s MEB base and has not yet had power and autonomy revealed.

It will be produced in Germany at a new Ford factory in Cologne and will be another of the brand’s electrified novelties.

It will have an average size of 4.50m in length and a 450-liter trunk distributed in the “body” of a medium SUV. Its design is more square and defined than a crossover different from the Volkswagen line, which features rounded lines. After all, despite the same platform they share nothing but the base and electrical components.

At the rear, taillights at the ends of the vehicle joined by a single piece, something that is common in Ford cars in several countries. As for the motorization, Ford has only confirmed that in the high power (DC) system it recovers from 10% to 80% quickly in a 25-minute recharge.

Inside, 15-inch Ford SYNC Move vertical multimedia with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless system, driving assistants with 12 ultrasonic sensors, a set of five cameras and 360-degree radars for instant responses along the route.

The estimated price is 45 thousand euros, a little higher than the standards of Tesla and Volkswagen cars but below the Mustang Mach-E offered in some European countries. While Ford hasn’t revealed launch information for the Explorer EV, pre-sales are expected to start later this year.
