The municipal police of Madrid intervened in the night from Saturday to last Sunday to arrest a French champion of Thai boxing but the “meeting” ended in a violent confrontation and the hospitalization of four members of the police.

The 25-year-old French athlete, whose name has not been released by El Mundo which reports the facts, was staying in the Spanish city to see his student brother. Passers-by and motorists initially contacted the emergency services, but they were unable to move the man who did not wish to be taken care of. The police arrived shortly after, around six in the morning, noting that the Frenchman had decided to change places to go to bed in a garden, adjoining one of the very lively arteries of the city, the Paseo de la Castellana .

Six police officers mobilized for the arrest

The patrol then tried to make contact with the 1.90 m tall man, but he reacted very badly when a policeman touched his leg. He then kicked the official in the chest, knocking him to the ground, according to the police report. Another officer tried to intervene before also being beaten. Two other police officers joined in the intervention, injured in the head and spine.

It took six people from the police to subdue the young man. Four of them ended up in the hospital, including one seriously injured in the vertebrae. Also wounded, the French fighter was transferred to the Salamanca district police station. He should be prosecuted for insulting and hitting law enforcement officers.
