The English opener could not even participate in the last Twenty20 World Cup tournament, which was crowned by England, due to a leg injury sustained while playing golf. Bairstow was also left out of England’s tour of Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh after that. Cricket media Cricbuzz reports that the England and Wales Cricket Board believes that the player who underwent surgery due to the injury will need more time to recover his fitness and therefore the ECB has denied Bairstow the opportunity to participate in IPL 2023.
