Meta announced the launch of WhatsApp for Windowsan instant messaging platform application for computers with said operating system, which allows end-to-end (E2E) encrypted video calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 participants.
These news come because the company is aware that “hundreds of millions of people use WhatsApp on computers and tablets”, so it has focused its efforts on improving “even more” the messaging and calling experience, as explained in a statement.
Thus, it launched the new desktop WhatsApp application for Windows, which has been designed with a interface very similar to the one already presented by the web option. In it, for the moment, group video calls with a maximum of eight people and audio calls with up to 32 participants can be organized.
Meta has not ruled out expanding these limits and has indicated that, “with the passage of time”, it will allow a greater number of users so that they can be in contact with family and friends without restrictions.
With this, he recalled that, after collecting user opinions, he has introduced new features for multiple devices. Among them, uHigher speed to link devices and better synchronization of theseas well as new features such as link preview and ‘stickers’.
He also said that has introduced a new WhatsApp experience in beta version for tablets with Android operating system and that it will release a new, faster app for Mac computers, which is currently in its early beta phases.
