E-Scooters to be active in Dubai; Permission granted at 10 locations from January

Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (DRTA) has announced that electric scooters will be available to the public and residents at 10 locations in Dubai in January next year. As the first phase of the project, e-scooters will be licensed in ten locations in January 2022. Matar Mohammed Al Thayer, Director General of the RTA and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, said that e-scooters can be driven in designated areas for bikes.

E-scooters are licensed with the special permission of the Dubai Executive Council. Its trial operation began in October 2020. Following this great success, the project is moving forward. In the future, e-scooters will be allowed in 23 places.


Places in the first phase
