A woman named Kavita was attacked with acid by an unidentified person at the Coimbatore District Court premises. The lawyers present there rushed to her rescue and took her to Coimbatore Govt. Medical College Hospital for treatment. The perpetrator was caught by the lawyers and handed over to the police. During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the acid was thrown by Kavita’s husband, Siva, who has had several theft cases pending against him. Kavita had come to the court to appear in one such case. Following a heated argument, Siva threw sulfuric acid on her face and body. The couple has been involved in various theft cases, and it seems Siva was in distress, leading to the acid attack.

The lawyer who threw acid on the girl and tried to escape from there caught him and handed him over to the Coimbatore police. Following this, the police arrested him and questioned why he was involved in this incident. During the initial investigation, it has been revealed that the acid was thrown by the woman’s husband.
On further investigation, it was revealed that he is Siva, a resident of Kaveri Nagar, Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore and his wife Kavitha has various theft cases pending against him. Last year in 2016, Kavitha, who was traveling in a bus, took advantage of the crowd and snatched a 10 Sawaran gold necklace from a female passenger. He was arrested in this connection. While he was out on bail in this case, the related case was going on in the Coimbatore court.
Kavita had gone to the court to appear in the case today. Her husband Siva, who was following her then, had a heated argument with her inside the court premises. When the argument was over, he threw the sulfuric acid in the plastic bottle he had brought widely on Kavita’s face and body. After this, the lawyers there rescued Kavita and beat up her husband and handed him over to the police. Kavita and her husband Siva have been at constant loggerheads since they were involved in various theft cases. In this case, it has come to light that Siva, who was in distress, was involved in the acid attack incident.
