The Port of Castellón installs its sixth air quality detector

The Port Authority of Castellón (Spain) has installed its sixth air quality detector, thus complying with its environmental protection policy. The new station for the sampling and control of particulate matter PM10 and PM2.5 has involved an investment of 31,000 euros.

Thanks to the data it collects, which is available in real time through the Port Authority’s website, it allows port operations to be planned when necessary.

The automatic particle analyzer, Mistral, has also been implemented in the Valencian Network for Surveillance and Control of Atmospheric Pollution, as required by the Air Quality Improvement Agreement signed between the port area and the Generalitat Valenciana.

In turn, the general director of Environmental Quality of the Generalitat, Joan Piquer, has visited the enclave to see first-hand the progress that has been achieved with this agreement, whose purpose is to reduce air pollution by establishing air quality standards increasingly restrictive.

Likewise, Piquer has shown interest in the private investments that are being carried out in the Ceramics dock by Noatum and Grau Maritime Terminal with a value of 36 million euros, to introduce improvements in terms of environmental protection, infrastructure, and high-performance mechanical and discharge means.

The Port of Valencia has also decided to promote decarbonization through short-distance shipping lines, which favor the energy transition and the fight against climate change, as explained by the port authorities of the Valencian mooring within the framework of the LetExpo Fair. .
