Waris Punjab D chief Amritpal has applied for British citizenship, according to top intelligence sources. It is said that Amritpal has applied for citizenship on the basis of his marriage to UK citizen Kiran Kaur.
Khalistani supporter Amritpal had applied for UK citizenship last February. His application is pending with the British authorities and the British are yet to take a decision on the matter.
Amritpal Singh, who heads the militant outfit Waris Punjab D, was associated with a major protest on February 23 against the arrest of his key associate and kidnap accused Lovepreet Singh. 6 policemen were injured in this clash.
Due to this, the Punjab Police is conducting a serious search for him. Recently he was hiding in Haryana and CCTV footage of a person like him was released. It is noteworthy that a woman who had given refuge was also arrested.
