Two days before their twelfth wedding anniversary: Reese Witherspoon announces separation from husband Jim Toth

Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth have split. The 47-year-old announced this on Instagram. It is the second failed marriage for the actress.
There have long been rumors that the relationship between actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth is in trouble. Two days before their twelfth wedding anniversary, the two announced their separation in a statement.
After careful consideration, the 47-year-old and her partner “made the difficult decision to divorce us,” they write on Instagram. The couple have spent “so many wonderful years” and, despite the separation, are now going into the future “with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together”.

It is therefore clearly a “consensual decision”. The two wanted to make the breakup as smooth as possible for everyone in the family and said they are committed to continuing to co-parent their 10-year-old son, Tennessee. Witherspoon and Toth also seem to agree. As the statement goes on to say, their son and the entire family would have top priority on their further path. In early 2010, there were first reports of a possible relationship between Witherspoon and Toth. They got engaged in December of the same year and married just a few months later. Prior to her marriage to Toth, Witherspoon dated actor Jake Gyllenhaal for two years and was married to fellow actress Ryan Phillippe for seven years. From the actress’s first marriage are her 23-year-old daughter Ava and her 19-year-old son Deacon.
