Kuber Fish Shop is located at the intersection of Mahatma Gandhi Road, Nehru Road, Puducherry. Every day the fish brought here from the fishing port is auctioned.
Prohibition order of District Collector
In this case, the public alleged that Nehru Road is smelly and sanitary due to traders dumping fish waste on the road. Subsequently, the district collector ordered that fish should not be auctioned and wholesale business should not be done on Nehru Road.
Fisherwomen gathered on the road
After knowing that the District Collector had banned the sale of fish, the women gathered on the road and staged a protest. The police removed the protesting women saying that they would negotiate with the collector. In this case, it is noteworthy that the prohibition order has come into effect without any talks.

Prohibition came into effect
The ban has come into effect from today. Following this, the police sent back the vehicles that had come to import fish. As a result, the fish shop was deserted. Also, the police are engaged in security work to prevent any untoward incidents.
