Madurai Airport connects to major domestic cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, as well as international destinations like Dubai, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. However, the airport currently operates only until 8.40 pm. Members of the public, traders, and political representatives from the southern district have been advocating for the airport’s 24-hour operation, which has been approved by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. As a result, the airport director, Ganesan, announced that Madurai Airport will start operating 24/7 from April. Additionally, efforts are being made to introduce new flight services.

The people of the southern district, traders and people’s representatives joined together and insisted in several stages that the Madurai airport should be made 24 hours a day. This has been approved by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
In this situation, airport director Ganesan has informed that 24-hour flight service will be started at Madurai airport from April.
