LSpanish security forces detained three Latin Americans and released five women, of Venezuelan and Colombian nationalities, who were victims of sexual exploitation in Madrid.

The investigation began almost a year ago. The detainees are two men and a woman, the victims are all under 25 years of age and traveled to Spain deceived, officials of the Civil Guard (security body) reported this Friday at a press conference in Cáceres, in the west of the country.

The investigation remains open to free more victims, estimated at around 30 women controlled by this organization, in a serious state of vulnerability, who were invited to carry out legal activities in Spain, as domestic workers or care for the elderly.

However, when they arrived they were forced into prostitution and threatened with harm to their relatives in their countries of origin if they refused.

NGO led to the rescue of Venezuelan and Colombian women

One of them, an 18-year-old Colombian, requested help from an NGO specialized in supporting victims of trafficking in the province of Cáceres, where this girl took refuge after fleeing Madrid.

The women supposedly lived in Madrid in “subhuman conditions”, without a passport, in a “slavery regime”, with cameras and microphones recording them “24 hours a day”.

According to the agents, the detainees laundered the profits with a point-of-sale terminal from a hospitality business and money transfers to countries such as Argentina, Colombia and Venezuela.

In the operation, some 300 packages of cocaine, cell phones and cash were also seized; 12 bank accounts were blocked.

Most of the women in the deportation center in Madrid are Latinas

The detainees are suspected of the crimes of human trafficking, belonging to a criminal group, money laundering and drug trafficking.
