CHENNAI: In the University of Chennai, it was decided to change the rule to appoint heads of departments on a rotational basis in the Senate meeting yesterday.
A meeting of the Board of Governors known as the Senate of the University of Chennai was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Gowri. Various aspects including admission to new colleges, initiation of new courses, financial management were discussed.
It has been decided to change the rules for appointing heads of each department in Madras University. According to this, the extension to the retirement age of the heads of each department will be cancelled. Professors hold the responsibilities of department heads, rotating only for certain years. It has been decided to implement this scheme in the coming academic year.
