The rupture of a pipeline on the Lameirão road, in Santíssimo, west of Rio, caused flooding in houses in the region, this Saturday morning (25).

Videos circulating on social media show that the streets turned into rivers and residents had to leave their homes.

The Rio + Saneamento concessionaire reported, around 12:20 pm, that the leak had been contained and that it is providing assistance to the impacted families.

To carry out the work, it was necessary to turn off the new pumping station, which affected the supply in other neighborhoods, such as Santíssimo, Senador Vasconcelos, Senador Camará, Guaratiba and Ilha de Guaratiba.

The company advises that, if necessary, residents can contact them by calling 0800 772 1025, which also receives messages via WhatsApp.

Mayor Eduardo Paes was on site to monitor the situation. The Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance stated that it operates mainly in identifying the needs of residents and in registering people who have lost documents. It is estimated that, so far, 100 families have been assisted.
