The ecological transition could have a significant social cost

by time news

When we talk about the cost of the ecological transition, we highlight the massive industrial investments that will have to be made. But what about the human cost? In a study to be published this Wednesday, Axelle Arquié and Thomas Grjebine, economists at the Center for Prospective Studies and International Information (Cepii), a service of Matignon, ask the question. In an attempt to assess this cost, the two experts analyzed the impact on the human factor of the social plans that hit France between 1997 and 2021.

For the authors, the adjustment capacities of the labor market in the face of these past shocks could prefigure those of the transformation of industry towards the green economy.
