Is the US mission in Germany getting an ambassador for the first time?
The US Senate has scheduled a new hearing for Tuesday, at which Amy Gutmann (72) could be confirmed.
▶ ︎ The professor (University of Pennsylvania) was nominated months ago by US President Joe Biden (79), but her confirmation was delayed. Gutmann has German roots: Her Jewish father Kurt, an engineer from Feuchtwangen near Ansbach (Bavaria), had to flee from the Nazis in 1934.
