Medical college doctors on strike – Janayugom Online

by time news

A section of medical college doctors will also go on strike from today following a strike by a section of medical PG students in a bid to disrupt the functioning of medical colleges in the state. The strike is a boycott of OP, IP and pre-arranged surgeries. There will also be an indicative strike by house surgeons today in support of PG doctors. Health Minister Veena George has asked medical PG students to withdraw from the strike.

The government has assured that the demand of medical students is reasonable and will be considered. However, the minister demanded that the situation be avoided. The health minister also directed all medical colleges to adjust their duty schedules today. Health Principal Secretary Rajan N Khobragade directed the Director of Health Education to take stern action against the protesters. The students’ strike was without signing the attendance register. Those doing Kovid duty also do not sign the register as part of the protest. Officials at the agitating Kerala Medical Post Graduate Association say that only one-fifth of the required number of people will be recruited and this will not be enough to reduce the workload.
