Economists expected that the United States would enter a recession this year, and that it would face high inflation until 2024.
These expectations came based on a survey conducted by the National Association for Business Economics “NEBE”, where the association said in a statement carried by Sky News: “More than two-thirds of the people surveyed in the survey, in which 217 members participated, believe that the rate of inflation It will remain above 4 percent at the end of this year.”
Experts slightly raised the Federal Reserve’s chances of achieving the so-called “soft landing”, that is, by reducing inflation while avoiding recession, from 27 percent in August of 2022 to 30 percent in March.
The US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 4.75 percentage points, in an attempt to curb rising inflation, which last year reached its highest level in decades.
Commodity price increases slowed to 6% year-on-year in February, higher than the Fed’s long-term target of 2%.
