In the courts at Udumalai, Pollachi, there was a National People’s Court called ‘Lok Adalat’. In the Pollachi Court, the National People’s Court was presided over by Coimbatore District Judge Balu. In the People’s Court, out of 62 motor vehicle accident cases, 28 cases were settled. Of this, two crore, 14 lakh and 74 thousand rupees were ordered to be paid as compensation. As such, various cases were investigated. In total, 1,471 cases were taken up and 46 cases were settled. A total of Rs 2 crore, 92 lakh, 61 thousand, 500 rupees was ordered to be settled. 432 cases were taken up, out of which 235 minor cases were taken up and 207 cases were settled. Out of 90 motor vehicle accidents, 30 cases were settled and 8 lakh 45 thousand 4 thousand rupees were settled. A total of one crore, 18 lakh, 93 thousand, 18 rupees worth of relief was received.
