The level at which the Jumbo-Visma are at is such that it even seems normal to see them arrive as a couple with a large difference over the rest, as happened today in Gent-Wevelgem. This reinforces the confidence of the block, which must now focus its efforts on giving the stature for the queen test: Tour of Flanders.

“It’s an incredible way to finish off a classic like Gent”, declared Wout van Aert at the end of a day where he was the strongest, but conceded the victory to his teammate Christophe Laporte. “It’s hard to believe that we did it again,” he said, recalling the 1-2 with the Frenchman at E3 in 2022, where he took the honors.

“Our classic season has been exceptional, we have raced well and we have a level”, summed up the Belgian, whose team has won Omloop, Kuurne, E3 and now, Gent. “It’s been a special week with the win in E3, which was very special and today with a great team performance,” he added.

Of course, the cold has been a fundamental factor in these races and although he did not want to give details of the impact of the weather, he did hint that it is not an easy adversity to confront. “I’ll go for a hot shower and get my body heat back,” he closed with a laugh in what was his last competitive appearance before De Ronde.
