Religious Zionism sends a message to Netanyahu: “Cease the legislation”

by time news

Amidst the current general strike in the economy, nationwide protests, and agreements with the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the postponement of the legislation on reforming the judicial system. Following this announcement, the head of the opposition and chairman of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, along with the chairman of the State Camp, Benny Gantz, have expressed their intention to discuss matters as soon as possible.

In response to Netanyahu’s announcement, the religious Zionist party deemed it a mistake. They noted that the decision to delay the legislation and reform due to threats of refusal, anarchy, and wild strikes is incorrect. They believe that citizens of Israel should not understand that the government’s policy will be determined on the streets and through the media. The party nevertheless respects Netanyahu’s decision and supports him as the leader of the national camp. They are committed to maintaining the current government, which faces numerous challenges, including reforming the justice system.

The religious Zionists also expressed their intention to promote legislation in the future, believing that it’s crucial to restore power to the people and correct the justice system’s injustices. They support dialogue and consensus, but they will not allow anyone to veto the citizens’ choice in favor of reforming the judicial system.

In the background of the general strike in the economy, the wave of demonstrations throughout the country and the agreements with the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this evening (Mon) the delay in the legislation of the reform of the judicial system. After the statement, the head of the opposition and chairman of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, and the chairman of the state camp, Benny Gantz, announced their intention to reach talks as soon as possible.

“The decision to stop the legislation and reform is a mistake”

Meanwhile, the religious Zionist party responded to Netanyahu’s statement and said that it was a wrong decision. “We thought and we still believe that the decision to stop the legislation and the reform because of threats of refusal, anarchy and wild strikes is a mistake. The citizens of Israel must not understand that in the country “every Dalim is a man” and that the policy of the Israeli government will not be determined in elections but in the street and in the media.”

“We will continue, with God’s help and with the help of the majority of the people who support this, to advance the amendments in the judicial system”

However, religious Zionism stated that they respect Netanyahu’s decision. “At the same time, we respect the Prime Minister’s decision and support him as the leader of the national camp, and we are committed to the continued existence of the government, which is a good right-wing government with major challenges in reforming the justice system, restoring personal security, settling, lowering the cost of living, strengthening Jewish identity, and more.”

We will continue, with God’s help and with the help of the majority of the people who support this, to advance the reforms in the judicial system as we promised before the elections And we will bring the necessary change to return power to the people and correct the injustices of the justice system.”
