Laura Shepherd Churchley, 74, daughter of Alan Shepherd, the first U.S. astronaut to fly to New York, also traveled to space. The 15-minute voyage was aboard the Blue Origin Company spacecraft of billionaire Jeff Bezos. In addition to Laura, there were 5 passengers in the group. This includes businessman Lane Bess and his son Cameron.

This is the first time a parent and son have been to space together. Laura was a schoolgirl when Alan Shepherd entered space in 1961. Shepard landed on the moon in 1971 on the Apollo 14 mission.
