The Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (CICPC) arrested a woman in Caracas for the crime of defrauding almost 400 people.

Officials from the Civil Service Crime Investigation Division located Niurka De La Cruz Hernández, 40, on Avenida Urdaneta through her cell phone, according to the director of the CICPC, Douglas Rico, through his Instagram account on March 27.

Hernández and Robinson Pérez, who has not been captured, used the image and documentation of a transport company to offer to purchase vehicles of different brands granted by the Venezuelan State.

The alleged scammers asked their victims for large amounts of money in dollars. However, once they received the payment, they cut off contact with the victim, through this method they obtained close to $150,000. The case was left in the hands of the 44th Prosecutor of the Public Ministry.

Between January and November 2022, the CICPC arrested 299 people accused of committing scams from January to November of last year, for which they urged citizens to be alert to the increase in these cases over the Internet.

Second case of scam involving car sales in less than a month

The victims had to pay Rodríguez between 50 and 100 dollars for the alleged initial procedures. However, once the subject had the money, he ended the communication with the possible buyers. Product of this scam he got about 3,000 dollars.

Since November 2022, the Ministry of Transportation has warned about cases of fraud of this nature, after a batch of 1,000 Iranian cars arrived in Venezuela in January 2023.
