Actor and director Eyal Geffen posted a poignant post on Facebook yesterday (Saturday), in which he attacked pop culture and criticized what he calls “representatives of the skinny Internet generation.”
Geffen, 71, who has been considered a well-known name in the TV and advertising industry for many years, contacted the social network last night, describing a situation in which he stands in front of a seller at Aroma, asking to buy a cup of coffee and the young man in front of him does not respond to his name.
“He asks what my name is,” he wrote, in a post that went viral and garnered many responses. “I tell him ‘Eyal.’
“This grown-up kid piece, who probably sits all night with his friends and smokes endless cannabis. This missing kid piece, who has never said ‘I love you’ once in his life, did not know me. From here, Geffen went on to list his professional achievements: “50 years on stage, on stage, behind the camera. 35 years of ownership of a production company. I have directed over 5,000 films and commercials. I have directed and produced nine election campaigns. “I am a business and marketing mentor. I have published five books, presented two solo plays. The network was furious at the harsh criticism (and some would argue – the petty ones), and today (Sunday) Geffen published a follow-up and explanatory post. “I don’t remember ever getting so many comments for something I wrote on Facebook,” he wrote. “There was no news reporter who did not call and ask to interview me. I did not agree. I do not want to be part of their cash flow. I do not want to be Dudi Amsalem. A large part of the respondents did not come to the end of my mind.
