Tomorrow, at Letalnica in Planica, the last competition of this season of the Ski Jumping World Cup will begin. We will see six representatives of Poland in the competition.

The Biało-Czerwoni will perform in the following line-up: Piotr Żyła, Kamil Stoch, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Paweł Wąsek, Andrzej Stękała and Jan Habdas.

In Planica – as in the last competition in Lahti – there will be no Dawid Kubacki (for family reasons – editor’s note), who at the moment is ranked 3rd in the general classification of the World Cup. However, this position is highly endangered. Behind the 33-year-old Pole, Anze Lanisek he is currently 73 points behind. There are still two individual competitions to be played. It is therefore enough that the Slovene takes 6th and 7th place. Then he would be ahead of Dawid by only 3 points … The optimistic aspect is the fact that Lanisek is not impressive on the flying hills this season. He was ranked 13th, 9th, 5th and 3rd respectively. This gives an average of 38.5 points/competition. That is slightly above the limit that he must cross to stand on the podium of the final classification of the World Cup for the first time in his career.

It is known that the Crystal Ball will go to Halvor Egner Granerud for the second time in his career. The fight for the Small KK for flights remains an open question. Here, Granerud is leading, with an advantage of 60 points over Stefan Kraft. The rest of the riders no longer even have a mathematical chance of surpassing the Norwegian.

In the classification of the Nations Cup, Austria is sure of triumph, while Poland will probably take the 4th place.

The record holder of Letalnica is a Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi. On March 24, 2019, he reached 252 meters there. It is worth mentioning that it was not the farthest flight on this mammoth in history. Gregor Schlierenzauer reached 253.5 meters. However, he did not stop trying.

A total of three competitions will be held in Planica at the end of the season. On Friday individual, on Saturday team, and on Sunday another individual, but only with the participation of the top 30 players in the general classification of the World Cup.
