BRASILIA (Reuters) – The Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, said on Wednesday that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva intends to send the new fiscal framework to the National Congress as soon as possible, but that there is still no date. defined.

Padilha said, at a press conference at the door of the Alvorada Palace, that Lula has been talking daily with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and that the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate have signaled that the fiscal framework should be quickly approved.

On the eve, Haddad stated that he will have a “decisive” meeting this Wednesday with the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, to discuss the new fiscal framework.

The minister pointed out that the law that establishes the new framework has April 15 as a deadline for submission to Congress, since it has to be compatible with the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO), but said that this does not prevent the government from announce beforehand what will be the rule of the new fiscal framework that will replace the spending cap.
