Conflicting Views on Russian Submarine Information at Gävle Harbor

by time news

The Triton NN, an underwater vehicle renowned for its speed and agility both underwater and on the water’s surface, has been designed specifically for advanced intelligence operations. According to former officer and author Nils-Ove Jansson, the Triton NN must have been inside Gävle harbor in 2017 to explore the possibility of deploying an atomic mine, which could render the harbor useless in the event of a detonation. However, Hans Liwång, an associate professor at the Norwegian Defense Academy, questions Jansson’s conclusions and argues that it cannot be established that it was a Russian submarine. In June 2017, a marine survey detected an unknown object on sonar near the quay in Gävle harbor, but due to technical issues, the measurement data of the object was reported as missing. Recently, new information has come to light which suggests that the object in question was a Triton NN, based on twelve similarities analyzed by experts.

The underwater vehicle Triton NN described as both smooth and fast. Underwater it can sneak forward and on the water it is described as a “motor torpedo boat” that can travel at 30-40 knots. The craft is made for advanced intelligence operations.

And it is thus the vessel that the former officer and author Nils-Ove Jansson claims must have been inside Gävle harbor in 2017. The mission must have been to explore the possibility of deploying a so-called atomic mine which, in the event of a detonation, could render the harbor unusable , says Nils-Ove Jansson.

– That is my conclusion of what the operation entailed, he says.

Can’t rule out natural explanations

Hans Liwång, associate professor at the Norwegian Defense Academy, is critical of the former officer’s conclusions and believes that it cannot be established that it was a Russian submarine.

– We cannot rule out natural explanations that cause the sonar beams to bounce in this way so that it looks like there is an object in the water, says Hans Liwång.

“The book’s conclusions from what was presented are too far-reaching” – Hans Liwång hears objections to the fact that there would have been a Russian vessel in Gävle harbour.

It was in June 2017 as staff at a marine survey detected an unknown object on the sonar under the water surface near the quay in Gävle harbour. A few hours later the object was gone. Due to technical presets, the material was overplayed and the measurement data of the object was reported as missing.

“Exactly matches a Triton NN”

Now almost six years later, new information has come to light.

– I received information that there could be interesting information left on the hard drive, says Nils-Ove Jansson.

With the help of experts, new data has been analyzed. The object was studied based on twelve similarities, such as length and width.

– Then it fits exactly with a Triton NN.
