In order to strengthen the comprehensive health care offered by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) to the population of Pascuales and Monte Sinaí, province of Guayas; This March 28, 2023, the Workshop on Demonstrative Experiences of Integrated Health Services Networks (RISS) was held.
“We want to articulate the first and second level of care to bring health services closer to the different communities,” said Jaime Peralvo, National Director of Comprehensive Health Care of the MSP.
The RISS can be defined as a network of organizations that provides or manages equitable and comprehensive health services to a defined population that is willing to be accountable for its clinical and economic results and for the health status of the population it serves.
In our country, the operation of the RISS has been raised from an inter-institutional approach to enhance the activities of health promotion and disease prevention, healing, comprehensive rehabilitation and palliative care, which guarantee the adequate strengthening of people’s capacities to improve their quality of life.
In this context, the objectives of the workshop were: to know the technical reference frameworks, review the current profile, define a joint roadmap and strategic inputs.
It is important to mention that the demonstrative experience developed in Pascuales and Monte Sinai has the cooperation of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).
“For PAHO, the strengthening of the first level of care and the model of care in integrated networks is the main framework of work to guarantee access to health services for the population,” said Valeska Stempliuk, delegate of PAHO/WHO Ecuador.
On this occasion, the instructional session took place at the Monte Sinai Hospital with the presence of health personnel from District 09D08 and from the establishment; however, these will be replicated at the national level throughout the year.
