Both officers deny any wrongdoing.

In addition to the two officers, another police officer is accused of violating confidentiality by allegedly disclosing information about the investigation to the victim’s family. On the other hand, one of the officers is suspected of interrogating a key witness in the murder case, with the assistance of an assistant lawyer, in the premises of Björn Hurtig – who had been defending one of the murder suspects. As a result, the assistant lawyer is also charged with aiding and abetting gross misconduct. Hurtig himself is accused of bribery, but denies the allegations.

The case has its background in a high-profile murder case that took place in November 2020 when a young man was shot dead outside the university in Borås.

The two police officers who were charged here are suspected of having conducted their own investigation alongside the real murder investigation. The murder is not yet solved.

According to the indictment, the police officers must have withheld information from the head of the preliminary investigation. They are also said to have handled a film which is said to contain important information about the murder. Both deny wrongdoing.

A police officer was also suspected of breaching the duty of confidentiality when she allegedly leaked information about the investigation to the murder victim’s family.

The other police officer was suspected of having held an interrogation with a main witness to the murder, in Björn Hurtig’s premises in Borås, who had been a defender of one of the suspects in the murder investigation. There, an assistant lawyer is said to have helped to carry out the interrogation and is therefore convicted of aiding and abetting gross misconduct.

The lawyer Björn Hurtig was in turn suspected of having bribed one of the accused police officers. Something Björn Hurtig denied.
