Chennai: The Electricity Regulatory Commission has warned the Electricity Board to take disciplinary action against the Engineers who do not follow the orders of the Electricity Grievance Board and the Grievance Board.

In Tamil Nadu, those affected by electricity services including power cut and additional electricity charges can file a complaint in the Electricity Consumer Grievance Forum.

The Grievance Committee is chaired by the Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Board. A person who is not satisfied with the decision of the forum can appeal to the E-Grievance Officer acting in the Commission.

The Divisional Engineers do not act on the orders passed by the Grievance Tribunal and the Ombudsman in favor of the aggrieved person. Due to this, many people are affected by not getting the compensation, not getting the services fixed etc. even after they get a favorable verdict.

An official of the Electricity Regulatory Commission said:

Disciplinary action should be taken against engineers who fail to execute orders in time. A letter has been written to the Electricity Board saying that if they fail to do this, under Section – 142 of the Electricity Act, the Commission will take action including direct fines.

Thus, he said.
